New e-filing rules: PDF/A and bookmarks

Anyone else seeing rejections on the criminal docket after Odyssey enabled the PDF/A and exhibit bookmark requirement at 4:00 p.m. yesterday? I’m tightening our case file prep with Acrobat preflight to verify PDF/A and a final audit before hitting submit to avoid bounced motions; sharing for general information only — please consult a qualified attorney for case-specific guidance.

Same here — . I set up an Acrobat Action Wizard to run Preflight > Convert to PDF/A-2b and, when combining exhibits, enable ‘Create bookmarks from file names’ so each exhibit is bookmarked; that stopped our Odyssey rejections after the 4:00 p.m. change. Adobe’s walkthrough is handy: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/pdfa-standards.html; for anything case-specific, best to consult an attorney — are yours failing for fonts or missing bookmarks?

Renaming exhibit files to ‘Exhibit A — Short Title’ with no ampersands or slashes before combining stopped our rejections — the auto bookmarks stay clean and top-level; @elizaCraft_75 your Action Wizard tip plus that tweak has been solid. Anyone else see Odyssey flag ampersands in bookmark titles? General info only — check with counsel for case-specifics?

I’ve cut down rejections by running Remove Hidden Information in Acrobat before converting to PDF/A-2b — Odyssey bounced one of ours because a scanned exhibit carried an embedded.msg; @nina_k82, have you seen attachments trigger bounces? General info only — consult a qualified attorney for case-specific guidance.

One tweak that stopped our bounce-backs: when combining, make sure it’s “Single PDF” (not a Portfolio) and run Preflight to flatten annotations/form fields before checking PDF/A — Odyssey seems allergic to portfolios. @johnson_kate92, are you also locking scanner defaults at 300 dpi B/W to keep under the size cap? General info only — confirm workflow with counsel for case-specific filings.

After the 4:00 p.m. switch, an Action Wizard step ‘Embed missing fonts’ stopped our PDF/A rejections — anyone OCRing exhibits first?
